1. Is my phone connected to the internet when I play against the AI?

No, it isn't. An internet connection is established only when playing online.

2. I get "Page cannot be displayed" when I try to download Backgammon

Make sure your browser's cookies are enabled. If this fails, the problem might be caused by the WAP Gateway your phone is using. Please contact your operator and ask them to give you settings for another WAP Gateway or different GPRS APN settings.

3. What kind of internet connection does Backgammon need?

You can use either CSD or GPRS connection. Some operators have internet plans that restrict the ports and protocols that can be used. You need a plan that allows TCP/IP and has no port restrictions.

4. Does Backgammon need specific internet settings to play online?

There are separate settings for WAP browsing and Java applications. Make sure that you have configured the internet settings for Java applications. Click here to read about different GPRS APNs and which one must be used with Backgammon.

5. I get "Access denied" when I try to connect to FIBS. Why?

This is a well known problem with some Motorola phones sold by Cingular and T-Mobile and maybe others. The operators require an application to be signed by them in order for it to be allowed to open a TCP/IP network connection. We are investigating what it will take to obtain a signature that will work on all phones that have this restriction. More information about this issue can be found at http://www.xk72.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=95.

6. I'm unable to connect to FIBS. I am using a GPRS connection and soon after I press the "Start" button I get "Connection failed!". What's wrong?

Operators often have multiple GPRS Access Points (APN). In the usual setup there are three APNs (and settings). One APN is used for WAP, one for MMS, and one for other Internet access. The WAP APN can only be used for WAP traffic. The MMS APN is used to send and receive MMS messages. The third APN is for the Internet and it is the one Backgammon needs to connect to FIBS. Please make sure your phone is configured to use the internet APN.
